How to Start Food and Dietary Supplement Company? FSSAI Registration and Licensing for Food business Operators.

FSSAI has made mandatory for all food business operators whether they are manufacturer or marketer or distributor/supplier/retailer to take license or register them online under FSSAI portal. Manufacturing companies have to take license of manufacturing under state licensing or central licensing system. Marketing companies need to register only under their portal.

If pharma companies or distributors/chemists etc are engaged in sales and purchase or manufacturing of any product that fall under nutraceuticals, food supplements and dietary supplements, they have to apply for particular category.

  1. 1. For allopathy medicines, you will need wholesale drug license and for food supplement you will need FSSAI registration if you want to manufacture your products at contract manufacturing or third party basis.
    2. Food supplements are different category and Ayurveda is different. Food supplements can’t be manufactured under Ayurveda. You have to get manufactured food supplement from Food supplement manufactured. Food supplements are also very popular among allopathy practitioners
