There are basically three educational qualification available in Pharmacy at basic level and two at higher education level in India:

Primary Education:

  • Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharma)
  • Bachelor in Pharmacy (B. Pharma)
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D)

Higher Education:

  • Master in Pharmacy ( M. Pharma)
  • PHD in Pharmacy

Minimum Qualification Required:

You can start you pharmacy education by taking admission in any of primary education type and pursue to higher education. Minimum qualification required for admission in Pharmacy course is passed in the examinations with Chemistry, Physics and either one from Biological or Mathematics in 12th or equivalent education.

Diploma in Pharmacy:

Its a two year academic educational qualification. Basic knowledge of Pharmacy is given to students at Diploma Level. Diploma in Pharmacy is eligibility criteria for becoming registered pharmacist. Student also have to complete three month training in a government hospital under Hospital Pharmacist.

Main career options for Diploma in Pharmacy are:

Bachelor in Pharmacy (B. Pharma):

B. Pharmacy is a Four year academic course. It is a graduated course which is divided into eight semesters. A three months training is required in a pharmaceutical manufacturing company after sixth semester. Some State has yearly academic system of examination for Pharmacy Graduation.

Doctors of Pharmacy (Pharm D):

Pharm D is a Six year course. Five academic years and One year internship or residency training including postings in specialty units.

Master in Pharmacy (M. Pharma):
