SUCRALFATE :
It is a basic aluminium salt of sulfated sucrose, infrequently viscous in acidic medium, polymerizing into a sticky gel like consistency.
It precipitate surface proteins at ulcer base and acts as acid resistant physical barrier preventing acid, pepsin and bile from coming in contact with the ulcer base.
Indication :
- Duodenal and gastric ulcer,
- Chronic gastritis,
- Post prandial reflux oesophagitis,
- Bile reflux.
