Fosinopril

Fosinopril

Fosinopril is used in the treatment of hypertension and some types of chronic heart failures works by inhibiting angiotensin converting enzymes (ACE). After de-easterified in gastrointestinal mucosa, fosinopril converted into fosinoprilat which is its active form. This fosinoprilat is competitive inhibitor of ACE, prevents production of angiotensin II. Angiotensin causes constriction of smooth muscle and arterioles. ACE inhibitors prevent constrictions of blood vessels and allow easy flow of blood through them.
